I really like these CTC-9's I'm seeing. My CTC 10C works, but could probably benefit with filters and capacitors. I've been running it since 1975, and replaced the OEM broken CYP22 with a well-used FBP22 in 1975, and a brand new rebuilt in 1982. And here it sits. As soon as I can get it uncovered and turned so I can take a picture of it in operation, I'll post it here.

I really like the cabinet styles of the CTC-9 series, they are some of the best looking sets IMO. I used to have a set called The Atherton, but sold it to another member.

My newly acquired CTC-9, The Kenbridge, with remote control. I've been so busy lately, I haven't done any work on it at all yet. From this thread it looks as if there are a lot more of the 9s still out there than any of the earlier models. As cool as some of the really early color sets are, of the 50s color sets, I'd like to find the CTC-7, remote-controlled Worthington, most of all.

No Kiddin'...I THINK we had Color from 1965 onward, but not too many sets B4c. 1970...

BUT one thing that has always slightly puzzled me looking at the roundies is just what size rectangular screen do they approximate.

They seem to look quite large? 25"?

Pardon my iggoranz but on this side of the world we never actually see such rare beasties in the wild.

I think they were something close to 19" diagonally.

They're called 21" tubes, presumably to be more-or-less equivalent to the 21" rectangular-ish b/w tubes that were probably the most common size b/w tubes in consoles of the time.

The image size on a 21" round tube is probably close to that of a 24" rectangular (b&w) tube, the difference in measurement coming down to the presence or absence of the corners of the frame.

This is my CTC-11; old photo, since this was taken it has a new tube with about 2 hours on it; just sitting in the garage covered up. Acquired in the 1980's from an engineer at the station I worked at for eons. It was the lobby set originally; great picture until it lost vertical output several years ago. Hope to get it going again one of these days.

Looks like I need to finish my 9 Anniversary set, 5 Wingate that now has a good 21AXP22! and my still working all original 4 Director 21.....Then I can post some pics. I still have obligations to members here that I need to take care of first. My life is upside down at the moment. But, I was able to get almost everything I wanted out of my house before it was all stolen (some was) and before the bank came and put a lock on the door.......wait....chotto matte yo! Nevermind:D There WAS a lock on the door, I unlocked it with my foot;3 Needless to say, tanoshiikata da na! Screw you Bank of America.

Yes, 24 inch. NTSC raster is 3V:4H:5 Diagonal. The "21 inch" round tube is actualy 19+" viewable, so 19 x 5 /4 = 23.75 viewable.

Attached is a photo of my CTC-5U Chandler. The 21AXP22A is original to the set. It required full cap replacement and a number of resistor changes. Some tubes had to be replaced. All in all it's an excellent set and I love the color it produces.

Was this how the set was acquired or how you had to bring the thing into your home after you acquired it?
