I came across something odd. I contacted Moyers for your Flyback and they couldn't come up with it. However they had the Sams and the flyback number kept crossing over to a Quasar part. Odd as it was 19 years after your set was made that Quasar bought Motorola out. I've got one other resource to check who may have it, and I'll keep you posted either way.

What is the Quasar part number?

For some reason most of the Motorola TV sets in the sams index are listed under Quasar...even the older sets before the Quasar brand was introduced.

I don't think Quasar bought motorola out...Quasar was the brand name for the works in the drawer sets made by Motorola, and then Matsushita bought the Motorola TV division, including the Quasar brand.

Correct, I think since Motorola kept making other electronics, besides the tv/consumer radio line, after they sold that to Matsushita...Sams listed them seperate to avoid confusion. I've never bothered to see what might be listed in the Sams index under "Motorola" but I would guess mostly auto radios, c.b. radios, etc. So basically the Quasar division of Matsushita was the natural successor to the consumer electronics division of Motorola.

That would be great if there's a Quasar cross reference. What was the Quasar number?

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe, Rich is checking with a guy in my area who has purchased most stock from all the electronics part stores that closed. You wouldn't believe what he has hoarded away.... Anyway he or I will post what comes up either way. As for the part number, it's the same one you have listed in the Sams except when you try to cross-reference it, it comes up as a Quasar part instead of Motorola.

We struck out on the flyback. Has to be a motorola flyback only. John is right, you have to find the actual one.

I have been looking through my stock of Motorola flybacks, but so far, all I have found are for B&W TVs. The numbers are similar, but not exactly the same.

Did you ever find a replacement fly or someone who can rewind yours?
