Right. No way a safety glass was on this set. It was built
Without. Oddly enough I cannot seem to find this puppy on the CTC-10 catalog. Possible rarity here? Oh and what was the original CRT? The tune diagram in the cabinet someone markered over the tube type. Not a cyp nause of the bonded safety glass.

Beautiful! I've never seen that cabinet before either, not in brochures or in real life. That is one hell of a find!

Components in the tv date February 1961.

Late CTC10, must have been RIGHT before the 11. I'm still drooling BTW :D

Here is a pic of how the CRT looks and this is really cool too!

Henredon fine furniture. That company is still around too!

Sandy G 06-29-2012 05:05 PM

Yeah, Henredon's Top-Flight stuff. That was a BUX-UP set when new...Did you go over it w/Pledge or something, or is it just THAT Purdy ?!? (grin)

zenithfan1 06-29-2012 05:15 PM

Did you get the brightener to come off? If so, it looks like there's life in that CRT.

freakaftr8 06-29-2012 05:19 PM

Nope it was just meticulously taken care of by the original owner.
The CRT brightness still on it. I figure let er cook at 8 or 9v for a few more hours then I'll get it off and check the CRT.

zenithfan1 06-29-2012 05:21 PM

The heat may help loosen it too, you said it was stuck on there pretty good. Good luck with it, I hope nothing breaks.

freakaftr8 06-29-2012 06:40 PM

Well red green and blue all well into the bad range.

zenithfan1 06-29-2012 07:03 PM

Give 'er a whack with a tester, what tester do you have? I've had amazing results with a Sencore CR-70.

freakaftr8 06-29-2012 07:48 PM

Semcore cr-161.
And. Yep I did. I let the CRT cook overnight so I figured what to I got to lose.
And the results were.
Red. 1/4 in the good
Green just barely good
Blue half in the ?
So I plugged it back in did a quick convergence and purity alignment with moderately impressive results. Then....
It started to look hazy and dim in the blue. Then a little darker.

So I tested the guns again and all but red were in the bad again.
Red was in the ?

So I started running it with the juice bumper again and it looks a whole lot better. Sadly I think this CRT has seen brighter days.

wow, thats nice, have fun with that.

Sounds like the tube is gassy, the cathodes are becoming contaminated. Time for a replacement.
