Definitely a very nice example of that light finish, and somewhat uncommon I presume. And will be amazing if it turns out it's working with it's original capacitors.

That pic is with the restored chassis from the dark cabinet installed. They are both KCS47 chassis and are interchangeable. I’m going to bring up the unrestored chassis on a dim bulb series after I put it in the dark cabinet tv and we’ll see how it does. It does have some 80s era replacement caps. The owner said his kids used to play Odessy Pong on it in the 1970s when he upgraded to a new tv! I used to have that game console as a kid. I remember it was a single unit with 2 knobs each player would turn to move their “paddle” up and down while an electronic dot moved from side to side. You could actually put spin on the dot/ball by swiping the paddle up or down when you hit it and it would travel in an arc. We were amazed and played it for hours!

I actually have NOS

Have you tested it?

John Marinello 10-08-2025 05:37 PM

I did, years ago. Had the longest life test I've ever seen on a metal tube, ~30 seconds. I've had over 40 16Gp4's alone, and also have a "pull" from a set that tests like NOS. Strongest pull I ever found. Kept as spares for a 16" Zenith. My favorite brand: RCA. Gawd, I've seen some junk rebuilds, downright criminal. Can't even weld the necks on anywhere near straight.

I had a Sylvania 16GP4 in a set that, for some reason, had an unusually long persistence phosphor. I would display a fixed image, shut the set off, snap a picture. Set image to a friend. How does it look? Great John. Thanks, and that's with the set OFF, LOL

Would you be willing to ship John? I'm going to get both of these KCS 47 sets working and on display and I still need a strong tube. If not, completely understand. Unfortunately, South Carolina is too far for a drive!

I've shipped tubes without issue. The CBS(?) tube in my porthole tested very well also, and has a neat tag with installation date on it, from the shop.

I'll send you a PM with my email address and we can have a chat there. Thank you so much!

I packed that set 7 years ago for our more to SC. Still in the same box.
