The grill cloth area is 17" long by 7.5" wide. I am limited to a few options by AES. Mostly because I do not want to splice 2 pieces. Most of their grill cloth is 12" square. I know it is hard to see with the brown paint. This has really been fum. A little elbow grease and you can have a nice set.

Is there something to hold it down along the edges or must you just trim and glue very carefully?

I will have to trim and glue very carefully. I plan using some spray adhesive that I got from a Upholstery shop. I got it to fix my headliner on my 86 Lancer. The old grill cloth came off in one piece. I can use that as a pattern.

I got this roundie out of the shop near Charlie. It is another hurricane survivor. The crt is busted and the power transformer is gone. I have both to fix the set. It has the same chassis of the one I am rebuilding. I will have to paint this face plate also.

That one is identical to mine. I got generic grill cloth at Rat Shack (when they sold that kind of stuff) and cut it to size. I also had to replace the CRT (two heaters open). Mine will at least get new lytics. I'll also recap the sweep section. Fortunately, the boards are in good shape. I don't remember if the fly is original. Since it's been at least ten years, it goes on the variac.

What's the latest on the other Sylvania? Is it near finished?

I am up to mounting the CRT in the cabinet. I will do the electronics next. The move but a damper on my efforts with the set. It is on my list to be completed first.

This project was put off due to my move last January. I finally got the urge to get the set out and get started on it again. A lot of the pictures were lost in the server crash. I will post a few to catch everybody up. SAMS is 759-4. The chassis is on my work bench. I decided to hook it up to the test jig and try it. I got a boat load of sparks from the bottom of the chassis. :sigh: Pulled the plug real quick on that issue. I will order the lytics next week. I have the original chassis and another parts chassis for parts. The three should give me a good chassis.

I used the 1/4" oak plywood sheet sold at Home Depot. The original was the faux woodgrain masonite.

The cabinet was stripped down to the frame and rebuilt. I also had to replace the moulding on the top front of the set. I found the exact moulding at Home Depot. It was 1/4" thinner though. I used a strip of the oak playwood the make up the difference.

The Gold and Silver are Plasti-Kote Classic Metals. They are a dead ringer for the original paint. The gold is 884 Gold Mist. The Silver is 887 Burnished Silver. They come is 6oz spray cans.
