My new CT-100!
1 Attachment(s)
Well, thanks to David Roper, I've got a good start!
I'm actually the guy that built the "Millennium Merrill" from the old "tidbits" site on the CT-100. It took me six years to assemble out of parts throughout the country. http://www.earlytelevision.org/Deksnis/TIMCT-100.html Unfortunately, I was forced to sell that one due to a divorce, after it took me six years to assemble. It really broke my heart to give up something I'd worked so hard to put together. Hell, I think that hurt worse than the marriage ending....lol. So here we are in 2014, and I'm ready to take on the challenge once again to assemble a CT-100 out of parts. Anyone got some parts to spare? :) |
Congrats dude! Yeah, a prized antique TV would be harder to replace than a dud wife, ha.
From the original Gone in 60 Seconds: "Stanley, what's your new girlfriend's name?" "Jill. Why?" "I'm gonna name this car after her 'cause she's a wreck too". |
The remake of "Gone In 60 Seconds" was an INSULT to the memory of Toby Halicki...Tim, if there's ANYBODY in the country who could pull off an assemblage of a CT-100 from parts, it would be YOU..

Hi All;
I would love to get an old Tube type of Color TV.. Only, I would start with the parts and chassis, then the Cabinette, So, we are on opposite ends of things.. But, seeing that I haven't been able to get either of my Black and White sets going.. There is no use in even thinking of a color set.. But, I Wish You All of the Best to get a totally working unit.. THANK YOU Marty |
Oh, I have absolutely no intentions of getting it working. Doing so (for me at least) would be tantamount to drinking Lake Superior dry with a straw or flying a hot air balloon to Mars. Cosmetically complete is just fine by me :)
|
Or I could put a fish tank in it and get blackballed from the vintage TV communities for life :para: :lmao:

I will take a look when I get home next month. On the ship right now... in Alaska... headed to Hawaii next! :D |
There are usually bits and pieces of CT-100's at the Early TV Convention in Ohio each year -- and the 2014 conference is fast approaching!
|
Yep! And I'm planning to be there. Reminds me I have to register....
|
Congratulations! A CT100 is on my "bucket" list as well. A buddy of mine in California had one about 15 years ago, but sold it. Wish I could go back in time and pick it up.

Sure. I mean after all, not everyone has a firing Civil War cannon. Some do, granted, but that's only a fraction of the ones in existence. Kinda like the CT-100.

I bet you could get a working one together if you get lucky enough to get a good 15G and a chassis with a good flyback (those are the most unobtainium parts on it).
If you ignore the unobtainium, historical signifficance, etc. it's just another tube color set with another oddball color demodulator, high tube count, and a DARN good/complex tuner/IF system... |
