Here are a few screen shots of my CTC 10 Monticello. Not bad for 52 years old

Hi Tom, That set is looking most excellent, and I think it couldn't have found a more loving home :) Happy Thanksgiving.

Tom S 11-22-2012 12:19 PM

Thanks Kevin and same back at you. The CTC 11 is doing well too except for the cat problem that I didn't have time to do last summer. You got to get rolling on your projects too. I play the 10 daily every morning for the news.

Having fun on a day off with my old Sets. RCA was the King in it's day for Color Tv. My folks never had one, Just tried one but ended up with a Curtis Mathis for the first color set in 1963, Then a GE in 69, then my 1967 RCA Combo till 79. That had a ;CTC 25 with solid State audio section. I'm going to try to find a few pics of it and post.

Don't have a roundie, but I'm playing the parade and shows on my Samsung, along with a big 40" Samsung playing football.

Here's a couple shots of my CTC-7 watching the parade and one of color bars. It's still a work in progress (I haven't aligned the color demod yet) but it makes a nice picture even on a sunny day.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Not bad at all.

Great pic on that set. Shouldn't need much in alignment at all. I think the parades were made for these sets. Well? what you expect since a parade was the first real color broadcast anyway.

Agreed. You're CTC10 looks great (and so does your 11). There's just something about the phosphors in these old CRTs! Although Brandon, you sure have got that Samsung to shine.

Sandy G 11-22-2012 08:09 PM

There's just SOMETHING very special about a well-tuned/tweaked Roundie that the rectangular sets DON'T have...And these dreadful flat-screen things nowadays ? Fuggeddaboutit...

tvtimeisfun 11-22-2012 11:26 PM

Hey very nice lookong sets I had to sell my ctc5, and my ctc9 sometimes when you need cash you have vto sell something of value now I am stuck with a ctc16 with a broken crt hopefully it is rebuildable... Timothy

Tom S 11-22-2012 11:53 PM

I'm still in the old days

Yup I have to agree that the phosphors were more natural for sure. Time was spent to make sure of that. I've been in electronics most of my life. My Mom says I was behind the Tv at 3, Something got me there. I couldn't wait for the tv to quit so the repair guy would come over. I was in the business for over 36 yrs. Now I just do a few here and there. Started in a tv shop at 13. And to think of all those roundies I got rid of over the years. Now I'm kicking myself.

Great pictures guys...
I have been watching college ball here on my mid 1970s Sony. (Close as I get to a roundie here!)

Hey everyone that posts pics gets a chance to see the Wizard a few times a year. I can still remember when everyone came over to our house to see it in COLOR on our 21" Curtis Mathis in 1964. The set was bought in 63. Here's a few more pics to enjoy. Thanks guys for the compliments.

When they bought the C-M, they ended up with an RCA anyway.
That was slightly before RCA licensed the building of clones, to the other manufacturers. That was the CTC15 design.

I also found the promos for a Curtis Mathis too. They called the chassis a CMC21. We kept the set for 6 years then traded it on a GE with a KE chassis. Not a bad set. Did my training on that Tv, my first convergence job. When my folks weren't home.

GE KE, not a bad set. Not a good one either!
Just kidding. There were worse sets. Wasn't the KE, the last of that design. Trying to remember how many years GE built that series. :scratch2:

Don't see why you would want to touch the color alignment at all - color bars and pictures look good to me.

Curtis Mathis Promos

Here are some of the CM Promos I have. My son pasted some pics on them that look good so it's not real screen shots.

Ge Chassis

Oh I know, the GE KD wasn't great, or lets go Solid State. JA,QA, MA,MB EC, PC, AA and so on, I worked on all those sets from 74 to 87. Our shop handled GE and Sylvania and we quit Sylvania about 80, Why I do not know cause it was a great set till NAP took it over. The only NAP set that was good was the C9. I had one and the only weakness I found was the Horiz Driver transformer would break loose. Otherwise it played great.

Hi old_tv_nut,

It looks good to me, too. The only reason I thought it might need a tweak is that I have to have the tint control at about 3 o'clock instead of centered. But I'm inclined to leave well enough alone.

Love the Jonny Quest shots

These pics remind me of watching Saturday morning cartoons on my parents 1965 Zenith roundie in the early 70's. Now that it is past Thanksgiving I also remember watching all the Christmas specials on the Zenith. Merry Christmas Charlie Brown, Frosty, Rhudolph, Santa Claus is coming to Town etc. Great memories of a much simpler time!!

Speaking of Grinch

Here are a few screen shots of the grinch. The color just stands out so well on these old tv shows. Can't wait for Charlie Brown Christmas

All of the sets look great! The Technicolor of OZ really looks great on these old sets! I would love to have a round, but alas nothing has yet crossed my path(that I can afford).

Nice inside shots of my CTC 10

Here are a couple of inside shots of my 10. Pretty good shape I think and an original CRT. If you look at the model tag and CRT you will see the matching Serial Number. You can't beat the old stuff with a stick. LOL.
