Verifying I'm A human

I noticed today the sight checked to see if I'm a human. Anyone else notice that?

Electronic M 12-23-2025 02:59 PM

It's done that to me every time I have clicked the new posts button today too. I guess I need to move less jerky, and talk in less of a monotone if it thinks I'm a robot...

ARC Tech-109 12-23-2025 11:53 PM

I grew up in the 80's and can still do the robot.

kf4rca 12-24-2025 07:55 AM

Is this absolutely necessary???

WISCOJIM 12-24-2025 08:03 AM

Yep, it took 3-4 seconds for it to get through the verification and open the site. No big deal for me.

I've been having the site very slow loading, and if I reload then I may quickly get the verify page.

etype2 12-24-2025 02:28 PM

For me problem started 12/22/25.
Endless cycle won’t let me in on Safari for iPad until I used Chrome.

Prior to that, every time I log in, VK immediately logs me out. Second login attempt kept me in. At ARF folks are complaining about login problems with VK.

bgadow 12-24-2025 08:58 PM

If it keeps the bots out, AOK with me. Today was the first time I had it pop up and it didn't take long to do its thing.

etype2 12-24-2025 09:43 PM

The problem is this verification checker as it exists on VK at the moment is not programmed to work on all browsers. I don’t like Chrome, prefer my iPad browser.

I’ve seen this checker on other sites which have no problems with Safari. VK still has problems and this checker is a band-aid when VK needs an operation.

I will say this checker is a positive direction to improve VK.

I had to use Chrome on my fire tablet.silk browser doesn't work.if it keeps the site clean of bots,im ok with it.until this change,I noticed lots of new "latest members" logged in with weird user name( probably phoney) for months.lots of new users.now I see no "latest members" with weird user names logged in so far. This verification is also causing security problems with Firefox when the local security settings are set to strict. If you want to lose more members this is a great way to accomplish this. Moving the VK forums over to OneFora would solve all your security issues and bring it to the modern day. I'm an administrator over there.

ppppenguin 12-26-2025 01:47 AM

Works fine for me on Firefox (on Linux Mint Cinnamon). While I'm not using the strictest security settings I've got things buttoned down fairly tight. I'm also using Ghostery which I highly recommend. It gets rid of much nastiness with minimal side effects. This combination breaks a few websites but not VK.

I'm using Chrome on W7 at a McDonalds wifi hotspot. They have the fastest internet of any of the restaurants around here. (Believe it's fiber optic rather than dial-up.)
BUT I have a problem with verifying that I am human. When I was a little boy my mother would say, why don't you act like a human being?

Yamamaya42 12-26-2025 02:31 PM

But I'm... more human than human!

I think you mean cable not dialup. Dialup is effectively dead almost all the dialup ISPs have turned it off .... It's too slow for most individual PCs on modern websites let alone supporting a multi-user hotspot. DSL might barely be able to support a hotspot but that's ancient too and not widely available anymore either.

luRaichu 12-28-2025 11:55 AM

This breaks compatibility with old browsers, now you need Javascript and SSL.
Not a big deal for me but it would be pretty bad for people who don't have the latest and greatest software on their computer.

ARC Tech-109 12-30-2025 12:57 AM

Sorry but I'm about done with Videokarma now. The cloud flare verification only goes in circles on mobile devices never getting to the checkbox and quite honestly the site itself isn't what it used to be before the split. I've been a member for almost 20 years now and was on a deployment during the split with highly restricted internet access, upon my return first discovered my username had not carried over despite still being active on the original audiokarma side. Unfortunately time has passed by videokarma and it has become more of a ghost town, archaic software with limited capabilities and the security issues have rendered it all but obsolete, there is a treasure trove of information in the collective posts no doubt but with the clunky interface that doesn't display well on all modern devices there's little incentive to participate.

I will continue to subscribe and support the original audiokarma site as my finances allow just as I have in the past. If anyone wants to reach me they can do so there.

ArcTech, I wouldn't give up on VK. Maybe it's on your end. Maybe you should get a 20 year old Dell laptop (D630) running W7 like mine.
Thanks for the info Electronic M. I had heard Bell Telephone was ending POTS service. If you must use it, they now charge a premium for it. The problem is, the illegals get into the crossboxes after midnight, find an active line, and call back to Mexico using a clip-on phone.

mrjukebox160 12-31-2025 06:52 PM

I was using a D610 running win 7 until the motherboard finally died about 6 months ago. Now i'm using an 11 year old MSI GE60 I forced win 11 on. (thanks rufus) What an upgrade.

ARF had the same problem getting stuck in a loop verifying I'm human when they started using Cloudflare, but eventually got it straightened out.
I'm using a bookmarked URL on Firefox to get into VK, and got stuck in that Cloudflare loop.
I tried adding an "s" to the "http" prefix so it's https://videokarma.org, and got right in.

Great idea in the sense of stopping direct bot access, this "Verifying that I'm not a bot" lol, but some people complaining here makes wonder if a solution compatible with older systems are possible. For me it works
