New Member proud CTC-5 7 CTC-10 Owner
This is my first post, actually replied to an earlier one. Am probably a strange one here, a retiree of FOX, 30 years at Fox13, Tampa, formerly CBS 1955-95, then FOX from then on, a FOX O&O. The CTC-5 I obtained in about 1988, have never had time to delve into that one, the tv shop i got it from said the flyback was shot, thats all I know. The CTC-10 was Channel 13's lobby set for 10 years or so according to the engineer I got it from--I replaced the picture tube right after I got it with a new 21fjp22 and it has less than 5 hours on it I would say--great picture on the set until about 2 years ago when I turned it on and there was the horizontal white line--so will have to look into that--A move to another county held all this work on the sets up so they sit now in my garage. I dumped an old roundie before the move, my families first color set, an Airline with the CTC-15 chassis from 1964, metal cabinet that thing had. Have several old b&w sets also including a model 802 with radio and a Motorola suitcase set. Anyway, this forum is great, only discovered it couple of days ago.

Welcome. Post pictures if you can. Always love to see the old sets...

Yeah - welcome! And pix are welcome too..

It's so good to see more people joining these forums...this is really the absolute best discussion site relating to old TV technology. I can remember back when the www first came out and you'd search on Lycos or whatever search engine was popular back then and hardly come up with anything relating to, say round color TV's...and now we have such good resources.

Those of us with roundies just took a bit longer to get plugged into the www.
I was waiting for 3-D computers. Alas... Proud owner of a working 1961-era CTC-10C chassis in a cabinet that has no model number stickers anywhere. Runs fairly well. |
I actually found this place by searching Google for 21FJP22. I wasn't expecting anything, but I think over 400 things came up.

Fixed several CTC-10s in college
Got my first one free in 1972 free. Changed all the filter capacitors, horizontal output, oscilator, rectifier and focus tube. Touched up the convergence and used her three years and sold her to my fraternity for a $100 in 1976. A lot of $$$ for a first year college teacher in Kansas. They were a cool set. This one had a rare earth CRT and it had a decent pic. Got a second one with a new CRT. It was an older sulphide tube and the reds were not as good as the first one. Used it two years and sold it. Would love to have that first one back. :D

Would Post Photos But...........
Tried to posT photos of the CTC-5 yesterday and it said the files were too large; don't have a clue as to how to reduce the file size usig an MSNTV2. I don't think you can but will have to check. I upload directly from a memory card reader just like I do on ebay with no problem. Anyway, I accidently found this forumn searching for info about the CTC-5 week before last. As with another poster, quite a number of pages came up on the search.

You could also send the pictures to yourself. My computer always asks if I want to send message as is or make smaller. Once sent you can right click the image and save to your photo folder on your computer. Then you can post them here!!!
