the late Gary Inkman; aka VCR Gary on eBay
I'm wondering if anyone here knew Gary Inkman of Garden Grove, CA. He was a TV collector, and also did restorations for people. He had a business set up in his mobile home in Garden Grove, CA. He passed away about 3 years ago, and I never heard what his nephew did with his TV collection. I expected to see some of it on eBay since Gary was a bigtime eBay member, but I never did. He had some very nice color sets, including a CT-100 and a couple of 21CT55s, and I think he had an Andrea 1F5 too. He also was the owner of two of the three prototype Sony PVM-4300u 43" direct view CRT TVs from '89. I lost the nephew's contact info.
Anyone? Charles |
Charles,
I think some of his video equipment ended up for sale at one of the local Electronics stores. I have not seen any of the sets. I will ask around a bit. Scott Ford at Ford electronics in Buena Park may know. Steve |
I bought a couple TV's from Gary.
He had a house full of stuff, including a nice Catalin collection if I recall correctly. I know he had a mini storage unit filled to the top with goodies. |
There was someone in CA with a website wanting to sell his TRK-12 for a good chunk a few years back. Something about neediing the money to move to Tahoe? Was that Him?
I definitely remember being out-bid by him on an 8PCS41 in '05. Would love to have that puppy now that I have safe storage! |
I bought a KV-4100 3.7" Trinitron offa him several years back. Seemed like a nice fella. The microcassette don't work, prolly needs a belt.

I know this is a very old thread but Gary Inkman AKA VCRGARY was my dad. Tomorrow would have been his 69th birthday. He died April 24 of 2005.
His estate was tied up in probate court so anything being sold after his death is illegal. Just thought I would let you know. I'm happy however to hear that he was respected in the TV~Radio area....:) |

I haven't heard of anyone trying to sell any of his sets which I would have known to be his, and as far as I know, those two 43" Sony monitors are the only two in SoCal, so I'd have spotted them if they showed up on eBay or Craigslist. Sorry to hear of the probate hassle (assuming hassle due to so many years!). I hope it works out as least troublesome as possible for all parties. Charles |
+1 on what Charles said; I remember having several pleasant e-mails back & forth w/him after I got my KV-4100, he wanted to know how I liked it, etc. I felt he was the kinda fella I wished I could have gotten to know better.
