CTC-12 on eBay
no affiliation...
Interesting CTC-12 with pushbutton tuning on eBay. Works but it looks like it needs a lot of attention. I don't think I'm experienced enough yet to take this one on...hopefully someone will save it. Go to eBay and enter item number 280299404397 in the search box. (The url is ridiculously long) |

Wow...The CRT plug-end cap is hangin' on by a prayer...

This is the set that was offered for free on craigslist. I emailed the original owner and they said it was gone. Guess I know where it went now. That CRT base would make me nervous too.

Really not all that difficult Mark. Use the John Folsom method. You tack solder a 3 inch length of fine copper wire to each of the wires on the crt. Then you use the extension wires to "thread" the crt wires into the pins. Works like a champ. When you have positioned the new socket and taped it in place, and are soldering the wires in place, you can just pull the extension wires out as you solder. Try it next time!

Thanks Bob!

And if you make each one of the extensions longer than the next by a bit, you can thread them one at a time going along as they get shorter. Choose your extension length.

that sin is too far for me

Somebody's very lucky!
I like that channel knob cover. Never seen that. I didn't know that frame design had a ctc12. I bet the CRT is not the original phospher color. Looks like alot of tlc will make a great set for Aunt B's living room.
I guess a repairman who was trying to save the flyback threw the HV cover away. That may be hard to find. |
