I assume you've seen the 21AXP22

on eBay, for (gulp) $725!!

I'm glad the seller has so much money that he can give eBay the listing fees, for something he knows won't sell for near that price. Dream on.

Methinks we oughtta pummel this guy with $10 - $15 offers...

zenithfan1 06-20-2009 09:12 PM

He rejected my offer of $275.00.

kx250rider 06-21-2009 10:06 AM

Try sending him an eMail offering to sell him a pallet of them for $100.

It seems any offers below a certain amount are rejected on the spot. I thought my offer of $30 was fair considering shipping is $170

I may end up with this tube, I have been corresponding with the gentleman over the phone. Please, no one buy it now. Not that anyone would at that price but I just wanted to say it anyways. My Wingate needs this tube. (no, I'm not having it shipped, I'm no fool)

I see he has lowered his BIN price. This isn't worth anywher near what he thinks it is worth.

I just got a CTC5 last week with a good 21AXP22A for FREE. I wouldn't pay more than about $200 for this and that is provided it tests like amost new. And it would have to test that way on MY Beltron with very long life test.

As you all know, readings on a tester can be fudged to make the readings better than they actually are. This sort of thing needs to be tested IN PERSON!

Buyer beware!

Eric H 06-25-2009 07:54 PM

A 21AXP might be worth that if it were NIB or Rebuilt.
Someone here spent about $600 to have one rebuilt a few years ago, I provided him with the dud.

If you want to keep your 4 or 5 original then I guess it's worth it but I'd be scared of a tube that can go to air at any time.

Ditto on that.

I purchased a blonde ctc5 deluxe restored for less.

bluenorm 06-26-2009 05:04 PM

Is there anyone selling a CTC 5 deluxe for less than $500.00? Please let me know.

kx250rider 06-27-2009 10:36 AM

Did anyone knock sense into the seller, and get the tube?

Further proof of the volatility of our hobby, mostly due to it not being well established yet. CTC-5's still get given away for free-and the same set can still be sold for $700+. There are folks on here who would pay $500-600 (with shipping) to have a round tube rebuilt while others would laugh at them. Well, if you have the money and want it, go for it! Just don't drive the price up until after I've bought mine! :)

I've been given, and given away many CTC-5s and 21AXP22s. Not in the past 2 years, but within the past 5. It's all about timing.

Same with one of my other hobbies; Toyota Diesel cars & trucks. A particular engine (just engine; not truck) that's rare and collectible is the 1985 2L-T engine. They go on eBay for between $1000 for a total basket case to $4000 for a documented rebuilt with a good pump. I paid $5000 to rebuild one "correctly" a few years ago. But there's one in excellent shape sitting on Craigslist unsold for $1000. Go figure! If I had time, I'd go get it and resell it on eBay. My luck, one of mine will blow up next week, and this CL ad will be gone...
