New Project: DE6 from 1938
 

Hello,

currently I am working on a FERNSEH A.G. prewar tv set, the DE 6. The original picture tube has broken filaments. Here are some photos:

No printed schematics are available.

One engineer in the past made some hand-drawn schematics, but did not completed it. Meanwhile I have got the power unit working and the video amplifying and demodulator section. The last photo shows the spare picture tube for replacement.

Wow! What a nice set. Chassis very clean and nicely laid out. That CRT is a bit of a Frankenstein monster, bolt in neck! :-) Will our friends at RACS be rebuilding the open filament CRT?

What is the purpose of the wrapping on the CRT?

What a gorgeously engineered set! Such a clean layout. I especially like the construction of the gun in the crt. I have never seen anything like that before. It's good to know that RACS can rebuild the crt as I'm confident you will get the set back to original and operational.

Eckhard might know differently, but the bag around the crt is the implosion protection. American sets from the time used a metal or cardboard implosion shield.

this CRT is working, it is a radar tube. The original televsision CRT has broken filaments. If I get the chassis working, we will rebuild the original CRT.

I wish my latest prewar set was as clean and well laid out as your DE6:

It's a Dumont 181, the cabinet isn't much better than the chassis.
