Someone in DC should probably go get this....

Zenith roundie (not affiliated)

I contacted the seller, he said he will send pics of the set operating. Says it's got a good CRT, bright picture. Also said it's had a can cap replaced at some point, naturally it would need going through to be a daily watcher. If he sends me the pics, I'll post them up here.

Seems like the zenith roundies are becoming more rare. Someone needs to snatch this up.

I'm gonna try to get this. I already talked to the guy on the phone. He is also gonna send me pictures of it working. I only hope it lasts til Sunday. I live on the eastern shore of Md and I got a job and a boss.I'd be there tonight if I was closer.

Looks like a '63, probably has the 26KC20 chassis or close. Great set that needs to be saved promptly:yes:

He did say it was an early 60's model, something about it being a first of some kind. Who knows, really. It's a roundie and deserves to be saved, that's all I see.

I wonder if he meant the first mass produced Zenith color set? If so, it's a 29JC20 chassis. I don't ever remember seeing that chassis in this style cabinet but who knows, it's hard to remember all this stuff and maintain a "normal" life at the same time :D

Yeah, I think it was something like that. He seemed knowledgable about what it was, so he's probably right. Glad he's selling it for such a fair price. :thmbsp:

Might be a 27KC20 too:D Those are really hard to find.....

I got it tonight. I'm now a roundie owner:banana: It is a 29JC20 chassis. It does power up but has definite filter issues.I did get enough of a picture to see that the tube is nice and strong. It has an original Zenith 21FB22 picture tube.If it is the original tube the set probably has low hours. The cabinet needs work and I'm missing a knob.It came with the original operating instructions and a copy of the Sams.Looks like I'm in for a recapping.I see lots of bumblebee caps in the pictures of the underneath of the chassis. I think I may have already have the original Zenith service manual also.

Nice score JC. A 29JC20 chassis is a 1962. I believe that makes it about as early a Zenith 21" roundie you can find. Keep us posted on the restoration.
