True tone

Just got a True tone radio/record player and the wife wants me to get working on it so i am looking for a schematic on it.
Model # D1946.
Some one has been in it and did some funky repairs on it so i am trying to get it back to good working order.
If anyone has a schematic it would be nice.:thmbsp:

I have some old Sams Photofacts for Truetone but not that specific model. Tell me the tube complement and I'll see if I have something close.

it's a 7 tube unit
6ba6 X2
6ba7
6av6
6al5
6v6gt

Apparently my information is older than your set. You use miniature tubes and the diagrams I have use octal. The date is around 1946.

Having said that, I imagine that the engineers didn't try to reinvent the wheel and thus probably used almost identical circuits, upgraded to more modern parts, by the time yours was made.

I have model D-1645 information. The tube complement is 6SA7, 6SK7, 6SF7, 6SJ7, 6V6, 6X5. The unit looks almost identical to yours except the wood trim in front of the speaker grille us a different shape. It has AM BC and short wave (9-15.6 Mc) bands. No info on the record player section.

I will scan it and post it if you like.

Thanks, it might help. as the po tryed to fix this thing and made it like a 10 year old was playin in it.
I will try and post pics in the morning some time.

The service information is located the Nostalgia Air website under Western Auto model D1946. It's also located in Rider's vol. 19.

It should work pretty well after restoration. Built by Wells Gardner. It has a 6BA7 convertor tube, which is better at FM frequencies. Also, I prefer a 5Y3 rectifier.
