cardboard form, using the proper plastic hex drive tool, no go.

tried heating the slug with a solder iron (low heat setting) no joy.

any ideas? I do not think the slug. It in a horz eff coil.

found some other suggestions,

heat the whole coil with hair dryer

WD40 dropped in and allowed to soak

ear wax remover (hmmm)

heat applied with metal hex tool

I was thinking of heating the coil with the hair dryer, and inserting a chilled metal hex head to cool the slug (but not to turn it).

If the slug is cracked, you have a problem because the sharp edge at the crack will jam inside the tube and it won't come out no matter what. In that case you will have to break the slug and remove the pieces.

If you do that, you can replace it with another slug, or in rare cases, glue some of the pieces together and try to put it in. If you can't adjust it, maybe you can shunt a trimmer capacitor and use that as the adjustment.

You have some options but nothing is easy about a stuck slug.

I checked it closely, pretty sure not cracked. trying some stuff now...

Anytime a chassis gets junked out, it's always good to salvage the slugs. Not only can they be different in diameter but the lengths can vary too.

If all fails and it breaks apart maybe you can determine a replacement size.

patience paid off. I used a micro oilier to put a tiny drop of oil on the edges of the slug, after setting for a couple hours is must have seeped in. a little back and forth and presto, loosened up. All good now :yes:

ha, It was pretty much right on the money after all (I measured where it was when it was stuck) but at least thats one more thing to not go wrong.
