Post War TVs

I just found out about the availability of 100 postwar (1940s) mostly american TVs. Unfortunately they are located outside the USA. A large shipping container probably cost not more then shipping a couple individual sets. Any interest send me a PM.

Thanks,
Richard

Without knowing the model numbers and condition of the sets, I doubt anyone would take the gamble.

John,

I sent you a PM about the sets.

I'm waiting for a price list from the owner. These are rare sets. I only counted one duplicate out of the 100+ 1946-1950 TVs. There was a pilot without a magnifier and a pilot with a magnifier. These won't be cheap but there are some rare ones here.

Can you share the list and prices here, or do we have to PM you?

5-6 people have responded and we all like similar rare sets. I haven't got prices yet. I hope by this weekend. I will post the web site next week after we iron out what sets we may want. Just think of 100 sets 1946-1949 and they are probably on the list. RCA, Philco, Transvision, Raytheon, Motorola, etc. There is a Dumont 101 console but no Dumount 102 which everyone wants.

The bad news; the owner Michael Bennet-Levy called me today regarding the TVs in Scotland. He researched the shipping from Scotland to any city USA and got a price of 4000 UK lbs ($6000) for shipping 100 TVs by boat and about the same price shipping 1-5 TVs by air. The price quoted was door-door. The shipping looks like a deal killer.

The sets are at http://www.earlytech.com/

He quoted a price of $1000 for the capehart 661P console that I was interested in. Anyone in the US want to sell me their Capehart 661P?

I thought I might be looking at an original knob set on the 9VT1 so I copied a picture of it for later reference. Then I looked at the 9T1 he has there and that knob set doesn't look original. I have two of them and nither of them have that knob set, so he may have done some knob swaping. Does the TS18 have an original knob set?

The 9VT1 knobs are correct - all red. The 9T1 should have three of the same red knobs with brass insert plus the clear channel knob. Only the fine-tuning is right.

TS18 is just the chassis #. I believe the model is 7VT5. I believe the style is correct, but not sure about the color. Mine came with tan knobs
