Going to pick up a CTC-12 tomorrow

The guy powered it up. Yikes. Oh well to say the least it's been sitting in the same spot for 40 years apparantly untouched. But he said it worked. So guess that blows the variac mystery. It's an awesome cabinet with sliding tambour doors and a remote set too. 2 remotes hang off the back apparently.
This should be a cool set. Now if I can just get a CRT for my CTC-9.
I'll take some pics when I get it home.

It will be nice to tackle one of these considering all I have been doing for the past few years has been repairing plasmas.

Sounds Awesome!. Plasma's can be nightmares sometimes. Especially those pesky Y and Z sus boards.

I envision Sanyo ipm modules dancing in my head. Lol

zenithfan1 06-26-2012 12:39 AM

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing it. Great score Shawn!

Congratulations on another roundie saved! :yes:I cannot wait to see it either. It seems like RCA sold the more interesting models in California.

PM me down the road if you need factory info on the remote chassis CTPxx, I'm not going anywhere.

freakaftr8 06-28-2012 10:40 AM

Well I picked it up!
Before I even unloaded it from the truck I removed the back to make sure no critters were living in it, and to my surprise what do I see?

Well no critters, but it's a CTC-10! But it has a 21FJP22 with a CRT brightner on it...
Boohoo. Well guess it's time to break out the tester..
The remote is really cool! It has adjustments for color, tint, channel, on-off and volume.

freakaftr8 06-28-2012 10:46 AM

Even better news... The red screen control is cranked to the max. Blue and green are at 3/4.

edit: btw, the CRT is a noname labeled 21FJP22 Rare Earth. Looks to be very clean, while the rest of the chassis is barely dusty. Not a smoker set. Very clean inside and out. I went ahead and powered it up with the usual checks, Hout pulled, so I replaced the tube, crossed my fingers and vioola.. Picture!
Dim.. very dim...:tears:

freakaftr8 06-28-2012 12:15 PM

Oddly enough, I cannot find the cabinet on Ed Reitans site for the CTC10.

http://novia.net/~ereitan/Gallery/CTC10_Gallery.html

The closest it comes to is the Wynnewood. Ill post some pics of the cabinet and the TV later today. Oh and this set if full of replacement Realistic *Lifetime* tubes.

are the G1s all tan looking? or worse Blued?

freakaftr8 06-28-2012 12:46 PM

I cannot tell. The bakelite base is cracked and the brightner does not want to come off. Its going to break. :sigh:

Just curious if that's an indication of anything? They heat the gun structure during the evacuation process, and G1 goes from shiny silvery metal to pale gold. Just saw it happen on my own tube today right before my eyes, brand new tube.

DaveWM 06-28-2012 02:04 PM

hmmm thats odd, most of my roundies with good tubes are silver looking G1 not so good have a dull tan, ones that got brightners are blued.

You should be able to see it, its the 1st round elements in the neck coming from the base side. I am assuming that is the G1

I would shoot some loosen juice on it, the focus pin is prob corroded.
