Does anyone want this? Otherwise it will be destined for the scrap heap.

That is one sad looking set. Is the chassis complete? Maybe someone would want that and the CRT if it's good. Where did you find that?

Coronado, now there is a brand you don't see on a TV every day....Even on the vintage ones.

If it does get saved it will take some creativity to fix the cabinet to say the least.

If you are near Milwaukee you may be able to talk me into taking that set off your hands for free(I can't justify putting money in to what will either be a parts set or a project that is far beyond my skill level).

It's WELL beyond anything I could accomplish with that cabinet.

If it was me, I'd just clean it up....try to get it to go, and then KEEP it like this. Sometimes I don't mind that sort of "survivor" patina. If I can get it PERFECT...then GREAT, otherwise....get 'er going and just leave it with whatever story it has to tell. I did this with the little rescued Quasar someone abandoned.

where did that crash land,that would be a challange.well if its all wood just break out the table saw start making new parts from old measurements. i think i would take a wak at it you cant make it worse.

Certainly do not throw it away. I think it's beyond hope as a restoration, but it is likely rich in salvageable parts. If there's no brightener attached to the CRT it could be practically good as new; to throw it away would be a terrible waste.

I would certainly save everything but the wood, it's good for parts, especially the CRT (17BP4?) Someone may come up with a good but gutted cabinet, it also probably isn't made by Coronado so it might fit another make of cabinet, (Muntz perhaps?)

I looked at the picture again. I thought it was a Sentinel chassis. After the second look, it could be a Belmont, Raytheon. Is the tuner a continuous design?

The screen bezel looks like Muntz, as do the huge knob bezels.

Coronado was a store brand or so I was told, they were made by whoever got the contract I suppose.
I have a 1948 Coronado with an RCA 721 chassis in it.

This came with many other 'treasures' I inherited on the property I bought. Must have been sitting down in the damp basement for many moons in order for the wood to rot that badly. I would love to not throw this out as I am sure parts are getting more scarce and I would rather see vintage stuff live on. I am located in Trego, WI, which I am sure is quite a distance from any collectors who may want this, so I will try to save as much of this as I can and if anyone with some interest finds they are headed this way just send me a pm. Thanks

Coronado was the house brand of the Gambles-Skogmo store chain, based in Minneapolis. Their radios were pretty cheap, generic stuff.

I'm 40 miles south of Trego in Barron. Any chance you could post a picture of the back insides of the cabinet, possibly take a picture of the tube chart listing the tube types? Any model number info on the back of the set? I think Electronic M's family also has a Cabin in Hayward? It's actually very curious to find a TV of that vintage in the Northwoods of WI.

It's a Belmont chassis. I'd pull the crt and a few of the tubes and the rest goes to the dump. :no:
