1958 Symphonic portable record player

Ended up getting this record player for a reasonable price today.

It does need a good cleaning and a complete rebuild; but, I think it has potential. One of the things on the "to do" list is to install a stereo cartridge and lighten that 16 grams of tracking pressure.

If that model has a one tube amplifier, you might be out of luck. Most of the newer cartridges available today are a lower output.
That old BSR UA8, was a good solid old performer. It might be suceptable to a lot of rumble with a newer, high compliance cartridge.

It does use a single stage amp; so, I'll either have to live with low output or modify the amp with a 12AV6 preamp stage. I really don't want to mess with a NOS cartridge because I've had more bad luck than not when going that route.
