Mitsubishi Micro-TV 1962 - Schematics?
 

Hi to All,

Acquired recently a Mitsubishi 6P-125 a 6" B&W micro-TV.

It was hailed as the world's smallest TV in 1962.

Mine is a 6P-125E - E like European, so it should scan in 625/50 with a CCIR Western Euro tuner.

It came from a Broadcaster and has been modified with a BNC video input on the rear. I intend to run it from 12VDC as there is no indication of the AC voltage. Is it 100V (Japan), 117V (US) or 220V (Europe)? i'm not going to take a gamble and risk wrecking the power transformer.

No power cord either. Do the two pins in photo 4 point to a popular vintage power cord format?

I am looking for a service manual, USA or Japan version is fine, the power supply and scan circuits are usually the same. If sold, price by PM please.

Photos are stock shot but identical to mine.

PS: Also searching for any Panasonic or SAMS service data for all models of the TR micro TV series: TR-001/TR-1000/TR-1010/TR-1020/TR-1030P/TR-1031P.

To be honest, my Sony PS2 looks like it uses the same power cord.

I have the Singer badged version sold in the US... the power cord simply exits through 2 holes in the back instead of the two pins. Perhaps the plug was broken earlier and drilled out, or perhaps that was the factory configuration, I don't know. Mine has the optional UHF tuner (model TV 6U). Old thread here:

PS; I haver never seen a schematic for the set, but it is listed as Sams 806-4.

There is a label on the back of the set that says 120v AC 60Hz. But if you're skeptical, try it at 100v with a variac first. CUTE little set BTW, I've wanted one of these for a while now.

Yeah, I've had a Singer w/the UHF unit underneath, for about 10 yrs now. They ARE Cute L'il guys...

I have the singer too. Horz osc if out of range for lock in, and there is some kind of fading across the face of the raster.

The connector seems to be for the standard non-polarized configuration TV CHEATER CORD that the industry used for decades - 120 Volt USA AC Input. Any similarly configured modern AC cord that will fit in the opening will work perfectly well.

What a neat looking set, I have a Sharp around the same vintage and that Mitsubishi kind of reminds me of it. Cheers ;)

to lnx64: yes that 8 shaped "razor" connector might work. They are fairly easy to find over here, i have a new one in my cables PWR bag.
Also solved powering a Zenith TransOceanic RD-7000Y years ago, same fit.

To jr_tech: mine is CCIR Euro, VHF only, no UHF tuner.
I broadcast on VHF channel E-12, so no UHF is no problem.

"but it is listed as Sams 806-4": strange - i contacted SAMS by Mail to buy a bunch of manuals (Panasonic TR-Series micro TVs) and asked about the Mitsubishi - reply "we don't have it".

To Zenithfan1: the TV has its backplate, but no data on AC power voltage.

PS: Another interesting score from the same source, two Sony TV9-90UE a 819 line + 625 line VHF/UHF CCIR Euro model TV 9 inch screen with direct monitor inputs. These use PL-259 UHF connectors easily converted to BNC use with PL-259 (Male) to BNC (Female) adapters.

I had never seen the Monitor version before.

iv also been searching for a schematic for a panasonic micro tv,so if anyone could help id like see it work .i bought it off ebay a year ago he said worked i checked it out and told shipping didnt brake this, you new this tv didnt work ,so he gave me my money back except 5.00 i told and keep the tv, he was just going to trash it i liked that little 1 inch screen size. its tr 1010 no raster vary vary low sound ,did basic checks crt fil. ok vary fragile.

Panasonic TR-1010P is SAMS #279086, US $25.00 pdf or paper via snail mail.

I purchased it, paper version, among others, last week.

If you wait until i receive it by transatlantic mail from the US i can scan the schematic.

In the meantime, start stocking up on miniature electrolytics. These micro TVs were often not operated for long times after the initial Wow! factor had worn off so most failures are due to dried out electrolytics.

I've found out from experience that most of the "old" TR-Series (1010 & 1020) don't work, but the newer TR-1030P & 1031P usually operate OK.
A mystery is the TR-1000P, although older that the 1010 and the 1020, they usually work fine. Better quality electrolytics in that production run i guess...

ok thanks , i tried the one cap big one, no change found transister bad, i order and got that one nte 315 but i thought i would stop there until i found a schematic ,i like test my hv trans values before going further just in case thats what hurt the transister. the thing is so small and fragile its hard to handle if know what mean ,my hand is bigger than the tv is. lol :D
