Hello from the East Coast (U.S.) from Sylvaniagal.

Hello, VK-ers! I am Sylvaniagal and I have just been admitted to the "clubhouse".

I am glad to be here. Long time lurker who decided to join, finally.

My "nick"--Sylvaniagal--comes from the fact my family--and myself--pretty much bought nothing BUT Sylvania TVs for years (much like my dad was a "Ford man" in the automotive department. Our family's first color TV was a Sylvania "roundie" (1964), as a matter of fact.

I wish I still had it; it's long gone, too bad, but that's the breaks.

[The first TV I owned by myself was a Sylvania B&W 19" portable my grandmother gave me; that was about 1972. It was a late 1960's model, metal-cased with faux woodgrain and gold mask and trim...nothing fancy. It lasted until the early 1990's with perhaps one minor repair before it just died one day.

Since I did not know how to fix it, it went the way of dead TVs...the curb. I still miss it. :tears:]

Anyway, I look forward to learning more about old TVs and their restoration. Who knows? I might actually get around to restoring at least one someday.

Thanks for the introduction and welcome. Working for a Sylvania dealer briefly and on some family member sets gave me an appreciation also. Sylvania was the best tube manufacturer IMO

I have a 1966 Sylvania 19" BW set that sounds like your old one. Were the UHF and VHF knobs side by side with VHF fine-tuning matching the pull on-off volume?
