Colour kinescope: Sam Cooke on Arthur Murray Party (10/8/1958)

G'day all.

Found a very rare colour kinescope recording on YouTube which is Sam Cooke performing "Mary Lou" live on Arthur Murray Party on 8th October 1958 :D :

The quality of the colour is quite good for a kinescope compared to other colour kines of the 60s I've seen, the colours are pretty well near matching that of the original colour picture and are comparable to a 70s colour kine recording, I am impressed!:D

I wonder how many non lenticular colour kines of colour programs were made in the 1950s, I know this clip, Ernie Kovacs Silent Show from 1957, and a couple of 1954 colour kines of Dinah Shore Show and Eddie Fisher's Coke Time exist, I wonder if there's anymore???

Wow...Our modern crop of crooners should be so good...And a full orchestra just sounds "bigger" than all the electronic autotuners, sub-sub-sub woofers, etc, put together..

Sam Cooke was an awesome talent.

Sam Cooke was one of the greatest, and his untimely death is still a mystery, in spite of what was reported. A nasty coverup.

I thought he was stabbed to death in some kind of love dispute, but that could have been the "official" story. Agreed that he was a wonderful singer, and might have gone on to super-stardom.
Thanks for the post!

As my grandfather put it, "He learned that hades hath no fury like a little babe scorned"...
