12" crt
 

Hi All;
I am just wondering.. My RCA uses a 10BP4 and many later sets used 14" and 16" CRT's.. How prevalent was the 12" CRT, in the Early TV Sets.. I know Admiral (not Admiral Bob) used a 12" CRT while others used 10", 14", etc. Was the 12" used by others at this time, or just Admiral ??

Motorola, Packard-Bell, and Philco, to name a few.

Just about everyone in the TV business used them. They weren't as common as the 10BP4, but a lot of 12" sets were sold. They were just a little more expensive than the 10" sets
IIRC, 1951 was the last year for 12" sets. The Philco Neotron??? :scratch2:

Thank You to everyone, I had no Idea that there had been so many 12" Sets made.. Since Except for the TRK-12, and it was not magnetic deflection, like the post-world war 2 TV sets.. I had not heard of many 12" Crt's.. I guess that the 12" was not as popular as the larger 14" to 16" at that time period.. Are the 12" CRT's hard to find, compared to the 10BP4.. THANK YOU Marty

The 12AP4, used in the TRK12 is magnetically deflected. :scratch2:

others like magnavox , garod , westinghouse , andrea too used 12" tubes , 12L4 being used a lot , philco also had that weird one 12wp4 ? , dumont had 12qp4 which is simular to 12lp4 just a little shorter.

Yes, in my experience they are. Especially the aluminized 12KP4.

My mistake, I must have confused the Trk 12 with the trk 7 or one of those pre war sets, with the 7 inch screen..

Marty, you are probably thinking about the 5AP4 and 5BP4, which were used in several prewar sets. They used electrostatic deflection. So did the DuMont 14AP4.

I have a 12lp4 CRT, but no set for it. Anyone want to send me one? :)

Boy do I ever, I have a very nice and complete small (relativity speaking) Philco Combo with a bad CRT. Unfortunately it's here in California and you're in Tennessee.

I saw one of the other members was moving from Virginia to California.. Don't recall where I saw that posting.. Maybe IF Bill R., would be willing to sell the 12LP4, instead of looking for a set, maybe the member from Virginia could transport it to California for Eric H... Just a thought..
