Heard that some kits are more valuable if left unbuilt. :scratch2: Not sure why, as all you could do with an unbuilt kit is look at the box and not build it? :scratch2:

I suspect this is true for TV kits. I know for a fact that unbuilt audio kits from Fisher, Scott, Knight-Kit etc. and kits from Heathkit are worth their weight in gold. Just check out "the Auction Site" for that.

This kit, use the knowledge gained

Great find.

Here's a cabinet recommendation that I think would be appropriate:

Yea, but if you built it whats the resale value for someone who wants to build it. You already had all the fun. Now its just another old tv for sale. Unbuilt "in the box" you are selling dreams.

I think that suggestion was supposed to be a joke. A lot of people who think old TVs are worthless turn them into fish tanks, so why not take a fish tank and turn it into an old TV?

If i had one of these kits, i would build it also. After all, its what it was intended for. Sometimes its not about the money.

I hope to learn to repair TV sets inside and out...I 'll post pics
ASAP of the kit,and demo how its built in stages...

Since you don't have a cabinet to work around, you might be able to use some different crts...you would have to keep the deflection angle the same but other things could maybe be worked around.

Would a 17BP4 work for now,until a correct 23"tube can obtained?

They both have different sockets according to the data on the net. That 17" crt uses a focus coil and I don't think the 23" one does
