Another one gutted

This morning, I received a message from one of the flea markets to see if I was interested in an old TV cabinet that someone wanted to sell for $75. The guy at the flea market said he didn't want it; but, would put me in touch with the owner if I was interested. Needless to say, I told him thanks but no thanks.

Just curious; but, can anyone ID what this TV was before it was gutted? Magnifying the photo, it looks like it might be an Emerson; but, I certainly can't tell for sure.

It goes without saying that $75 would probably be too much, even if the set was still together. The only way it would be worth close to that amount would be if the CRT was good and the cabinet was in better shape; so, just another example of someone thinking they're sitting on a goldmine just because they have something old. I've got a similar looking '53 blonde Silvertone that I paid $40 for and that was probably pushing it; but, it least it turned out to have a good CRT.

The shape of the letterbox door looks like Emerson from about 1952 - 1954. The first thing that I thought when I saw the pix was "poor old Emerson" :(

edit add: from the "TV history" site, a similar looking model that also has a record player/radio in the base;

It looks like a 1954 Model 771 but Emerson may of had a similar model in '53 (without the phono.
