Antique TV

Could anyone help me with info on this TV like year and value? It is not mine. It is for sale and I am thinking about buying it. Thanks.

It's a Stromberg-Carlson set from ~1951. It is not a color TV. Without knowing if the CRT is any good I wouldn't offer more than $50 if that. If the CRT can be tested and is good, then it would be worth more, but not a great deal more.

ETA: Wanted to check to be sure it was really a 19" set. It is. What a monster. If this is the same set that's on eBay, it's not worth anything near four hundred bucks, even with a known good 19AP4--which frankly I'd be just as likely as not to harvest from it if the set could be had for a reasonable price.

I came across the Chinese cabinet model at an estate sale about 3 months ago. Asking price was $400  . Beautiful woodwork, set was in mint shape, but needless to say I passed on it.

Usually set with large CRT's, along with large heavy cabinets, are shunned by collectors, but many collectors have a soft spot for high-quality Dumont's. It's definitely a set worth saving. If the CRT checks good someone will want it.

what is the asking price ? it looks like a Dumont clone in a way, has a 19" picture.
