Craigslist search terms
 

Hello, I hace been thinking about this for a while on Craigslist what are some terms i would you for the search bar, as I have been currently ysing "vintage tv" , but that doesn't usually turn up much so does anyone a some?

I use vintage TV, and also vintage television, antique TV, antique television, I also use mid (as in mid century) retro and knob. Sometimes I get a bit more specific using 1930's 40's 50's as keywords.
Try the misspelled version leaving out the second i. televison.

I check off the search titles only box otherwise it brings up everything on CL with any kind of TV.

Specific brands can be helpful, but only if it's a brand that would most likely only be vintage, like Philco, Hoffman and Admiral, RCA and Zenith are still in use and usually turn up only modern sets.

Little known secret is using 194* or 195* - 'tv' and then switch to 'television'. That will grab any year that a seller posts.

Another idea is to do a nationwide search, Google 'craigslist search' and you will find search engines that check all the craigslist sites, but then it's helpful to narrow down the search sometimes, good if your looking for something specific, and willing to travel a bit to get it.

You don't need a special search engine to search every craigslist site. Just use the "site:" specifier after your search phrase.

For instance, type the following in http://www.bing.com/ or http://www.google.com/ :

antique tv site:craigslist.org

I use "site:" all of the time to search the archives of this forum and other forums. The big search engines seem to do a better job than the inbuilt search feature in most forum software (or at least it's handier for me). For example, this searches VideoKarma.org for discussions mentioning the RCA CT-100:

rca ct-100 site:videokarma.org

I look for "tv" in the Antiques or Collectibles categories. From your local Craigslist site, there will be a drop-down list of nearby city sites that bring up the same search results on those sites when you click on them. Each of them has its own drop-down list, so you can go hopping further away as desired, returning to your start to go in a different direction, too.
