HV tuning in newer SS sets
I haven't heard of and don't recall seeing safety caps in 80s and newer CRT sets. If they don't need any, I just wonder why.

Still there. No they are regular caps of MUCH higher
quality. From about 1980 on I dont think I have changed more than 2. Newer sets use HV shut down. 73 Zeno:smoke: LFOD ! |
Gotcha. I recall a label inside a 1982 RCA with a CTC117 chassis that spoke of test points for an x-ray protection circuit. It said shorting the stakes must shut the set down, and if it didn't it must be taken in for repair. Also, before I could find an Electrohome C31 chassis manual I did what I could with the manual for the G02 arcade monitor. I noticed an EHT hold-down pot on that one that the C31 lacks. Both use a 4- lead 0.012 uf safety cap.

Quite a few had both. Zenith didnt have HVSD til S3
sets. They met US regulations so why bother. SD problems can be a bitch especially when random. 73 Zeno:smoke: LFOD! |
