Great Northern (Alan Jesperson) closing up shop in Minnesota

From the recent Northland Antique Radio Club newsletter:

STORE CLOSING SALE -May 17, 2019

Alan Jesperson will be holding a store-closing sale at his store, Great Northern Antiques, 5200 Bloomington Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN on Friday May 17 (2019), from 10 am to 4 pm.

Alan has been in the vintage radio business for around 40 years and has now decided to close the store. He is well-known, coat to coast, for the extensive inventory of high-end radios he regularly advertised for sale. He still has lots of table models, Scot chassis, console cabinets, Riders Manuals, etc., etc., and will offer them on May at very reasonable prices. Be sure to drop by Alan's shop on your way to the Radio Daze auction! You can call him at 612-751-1733 for details.

I'ts timed perfectly to coincide with the Minnesota club's Radio Daze. That should be good incentive to make the trip!

Edit: I just realized this is next month not this week... Depending on what money I have after the ETF this could be a a good excuse to grab some stuff out west I've been looking at... Anyone who has been there know how big a meet this is both for the club and compared to Mets like Radiofest?

I might go there next year or later in the summer.

Jim, Sent you an email about something.

Radio Daze is Northland's biggest annual event. Unfortunately, over the years it has been cut back to less than a 2-day meet. The auction is Friday night, the outdoors swap the next morning. A slight bit bigger than our best WARCI meets, but nothing compared to the Illinois ARCI RadioFest. Rain in the forecast can kill the Saturday swap, but the auction has been consistently good for decades.

Worth trying at least once (in a good weather year) before ruling it out. Maybe next year?

Hate to hear of this. Have lusted after Alan's offerings for years, but they were always a bit too dear for me. He had some LUSCIOUS toys, though, down the years...
