Today i was wandering around town and stopped at a overpriced Antique/Junk store that i seldom visit. Well to my surprise there are several antique radios in non working condition and have prices for $75 and up. When i saw the Repwood Crosley it had a $85 tag on it but was able to talk the owner down to $65 since the speaker cone and cloth is gone. Knobs are broken as well, did i pay too much?

<Gives quizzical look> Repwood was never my strong suit. Price maybe a little high. One thing is you don't see many of these anymore. It will definitely need a good antenna once repaired. Beauty in the eyes of the beholder.

What a dramatic looking radio, I'd probably have paid that for it.

Me too, these are rarely seen... I suspect that the case is fairly fragile... perhaps deteriorating quickly if wet. :scratch2:

So what ? Maybe it is a tad high, but NOW its yours, & I bet you'll have it looking/playing like a gazillion bux in no time... If you didn't get it today, if you're like me, it woulda "Eat" at you til you went back & got it... I KNOW that dance..

Thanks Uncle Sandy! i've been searching around on the internet and the more common Crosley Buddy boy "Repwood" radio averages at $300-$400, so i'm not feeling too bad :)

You actually did VERY well. It definitely is "love-it-or-hate it" with those repwood Crosley's, but the ones that love them, highly prize them. It's worth the effort to fully restore it. You'll have a set that's easily worth several hundred dollars.
Although they look pretty odd, I personally consider them the only Art-Nouveau styled radios ever made even though that trend was over by the teens.

I would have dropped $65 and ran out of there like I stole it !
Nice score!
