Good morning!

I skipped the intro and jumped right into tv repair.

My name is Jordan, and I am currently student-teaching band/music in Texas. I have been a classical musician for over 20 years, worked in the casino industry during my first degree, worked in a family and sexual violence shelter, and returned to college to pursue a second degree in music education and haven't been this happy in a long time.

When I was about 8 or 9 I became fascinated with old technology: magneto wall phones, candlesticks, early dial and subscriber sets, treadle sewing machines, early still cameras and eventually shot double 8mm, and super 8mm, and had my own home darkroom.

At 35 I have spent time restoring all of the above devices, including electric Singer sewing machines from the 30's to tge late 50's early 60's, pre-vinyl gearing.

Television and radio are relatively unknown to me. So I stepped in it big by finding an RCA 21" 'Norman' corner console tv. You will see many posts from me seeking advice, information, redundant questions, etc., as I tend to learn on the job!

Welcome. Among my various talents is vocal and instrumental music. I started with radio and worked my way up to computers. I still prefer music listening to radio. Enjoy!

Speaking as a somewhat noobie myself, definitely get the Sams Photofact for your tv set. It'll help a lot. Me personally, I only have a very basic understanding of tv electronic theory. I know loosely what happens, and I'm pretty familiar with electronics circuits in general. But I really need a schematic to have any idea what part of the circuit I'm looking at.
