Greetings from Ontario, Canada

Hello everyone,

Thanks for accepting my registration.

My primary hobby is the design & experimentation of vacuum tube audio gear. But, as a teenager in the early 70's I had a small business repairing electronics; mostly amplifiers and black & white TV's.
The TV side of it came to a screeching halt when I inadvertently cracked the neck of a picture tube while moving the set.
I had to buy the owner a new CRT and swore I'd never repair another TV!

Well, 50 odd years later I have a dozen and a half restored antique radios and I've finally calmed down enough to have a go at a vintage TV. My first restoration will be a 1948 Admiral 19A11 set.

Needless to say I will be VERY careful handling the CRT!

I look forward to interacting on the forums.

John

Welcome! I have six tube radios from 1936 to 1960 manufactured by Philco and Zenith. My favorites are my Philco 37-665B, Philco 116-122B, Zenith 7S363 and Zenith 11S474. I noticed that tube (valve) AM radios sound much better than transistors. My 116 is not quite complete yet but I've heard it's a good "hearing" radio. Soon it goes back to the shop. Put a good antenna on these and they'll surprise you on reception. Oh, I have CRT TV's too.:thmbsp:

Welcome aboard ! Dont worry abt that CRT' I broke a few in my time also.
Worse part it was always on a POS set & the CRT was weak anyhows.
Never happened to an RCA or Zenith that you could get a reasonable
priced CRT for! We just sold them a new set under cost & everybody was happy:banana:
