What the "h" "e" double hockey sticks is this?

What am I looking at here? Looks like the size of a small radio, or is the perspective throwing me off???

lol why does the pic make it look like the whole set is 10" tall? Looks like doll house furniture.

I saw this style of photography before and I can never quite understand what makes the item look miniature. I can only guess it's the blurred background against the highly focused main item. It creates the illusion that a miniature item was photograph up close. That's how the photo would look if you did.
It's a fairly common early 10" postwar TV and one of the more popular console models with collectors. It's also a very good performer once restored.
That is a decent example, but unfortunately will need a refinish and new decals applied.

Exactly!! Strangely, even the pic that Jr. posted looks like a miniature! Glad it wasn't only me.

It's called Tilt-Shift photography. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilt%E...ft_photography

The relatively large knobs help the illusion too.

The model I have is a 30A1, uses a 10BP4 but no filter on that changes the color screen.

This set was part of Admiral's "triple thrill" that included a matching horizontal radio-phono in a matching cabinet that was 2x as wide.

It seems the grille cloth pattern must also be large. When I picture that cloth on a radio, I envision something like a tombstone or small cathedral.

Very interesting. Thank you for that link.

A tilted CRT bezel might also contribute to the slightly distorted perspective:

John

These aren't table radio size but they are kinda small for a console...less than waste high IIRC. Remember the screen is a 10" diagonal.
