JVC BR-S811E ,what do you guys think?
 

i have been looking for a s-vhs unit,
this is what i purchased ,its in the post as i write this, is there any one here that may have worked on one in the past?
im planning to recap it ,i do this to all my vintage gear i get to keep,
i was looking for a sony player but this one will have to do i guess,
a pic of it that was in the sale advertisement

The PRO grade players typically only supported the SP speed so you probably won't be able to play LP or EP. Sony invented Beta and JVC invented VHS...Sony didn't make many SVHS decks as it wasn't their IP....
Also the only Sony consumer SVHS deck I know of was plagued by threading gears splitting in half.

oh i see,
is this model fairly good? im going to use it for play back only using the s-video line ,
its not coming up with error faults as yet im lead to believe ,ill see when it gets here ,
i have done research on some problems they have,it boils down to gears and belts,ill service these points before plugging in ,along with a lube and clean,i may recap audio broad after i have seen it working ,power supply as well im guessing,
have you any ideas of it age?

ok ,i have done a deal with the seller to pack very well,
is there any one that can give me an idea of what to look for regarding damage that may take place in shipping,
i under stand that it can be very obvious but i have heard that if one of these players gets banged about there is a few micro switches on the under side that can give problems,?
are the pcbs brittle and break?

i have been reading a watching videos about repairs that i may need to under take,

well it is here
its in perfect cosmetic cond
it was displaying a few faults but that was remedied by replacing a belt and lubing the mechanical movements ,works well now,
i have checked the sound out and it is good on head phones,
im yet to check picher out as i need a svhs cable ,
that is proving hard work ,its a 7 pin din like plug,im guessing ill need this plug on one end a s-video on the other end

That plug is usually known as the Y/C 388 connector and on those decks that's what their 'SVHS' cables are and plug into. I have the BR-S822U and the S525U decks and uses that same cable.

You will need the Y/C male 7-pin to 4-pin DIN adapter. I had mine made from a company called Markertek but that was several years ago, and don't know if they make those cables anymore. You would have to call and ask.
