Working 14T-007 tabletop model that works on all original components. Probably replace the cans and the waxies and pray I don't break it!

They weren't screaming performers, but they were fairly reliable.
Yours, being the lowest priced model, brown cabinet, no handle and a non-aluminized CRT. They made three years of them. One model even had a clock mounted on top to be used as a clock TV. :banana:

I saw the clock in the schematic and yes, I believe I have seen them on eBay. It’s in good condition and a great size for my collection. Not much in the way of historical value I agree but it’s cute and that counts for me!

We had the Hotpoint badged one when I was a kid. Light gray and dark gray, with a chrome handle. I don't recall it ever needing service before it was retired.

One of these (the latter version with SS H AFC diodes and a lot for H hold) was what got me started collecting. The later ones work better than the early ones, but they definitely aren't Zenith's.

I have a Hotpoint version of this too. Curb find years ago. I may dig it out and see what it needs...

The little run had a change in the horiz phasing circuit. The early ones had a 5AN8 for an audio amplifier, penthod half and the triode half as the phase detector tube. The newer design has a 3AU6 as the audio amp and a set of diodes for the phase detectors. I don't remember the kind of diodes that was used. :sigh:

Grandfather had onesuch he'd carry to the gravel pit he supervised after a massive heart attack ended his life as a farmer/rancher. I was fascinated with it's relative compactness.

The original ones were the "M" models.
The last run, 1957, were the "Q" models. They still didn't hang on as long as the "Porta-Colors". :D

The Portacolors, 14N22 Zeniths, RCA 630 and clones, and CTC-15/16 and clones are in a league of their own in terms of production longevity...Seemed those designs all got around a decade of production.

I've seen dozens of those RCA CTC-15/16 sets up for sale on eBay advertised as working with pictures to prove it. I picked up 2 myself recently with all original parts, good CRTs and working right out of the shrink wrap.

In what alternative / mirror Star Trek or Star Wars universe was this in?:D :scratch2:
In the last 6 years or so of keeping an eye on evil-bay I have only ever seen ONE roundy ever, and where the price was nominal, the shipping was WAY beyond exorbitant. :(

I have that same Hotpoint 14T007? found at a rummage sale in 1978.
I gave it the half-a**ed recap I did back then and it was working.
I haven't lit it up for a long time, so it needs a full going over.

I bought a few GE factory issued service manuals that cover models to 1947.
The volume three is for models built from 1955 to 1957. It even includes the color sets, 15CL100 and the 21C701. The paper in this manual turned into a nasty yellow, where the rest of the manuals remained nice and white.
The Hotpoint is probably the last of the run and possibly the "Q" chassis, which is the last of the run.
