21FBP22 Needs Air!

This CRT has an open heater. I need to dispose of it. I need to let the air in.
I'm thinking of drilling a small hole in the copper tube.

You could or nick it with wire cutters.

scarce tube

why? Someone may start rebuilding them and they will be in very short supply.

Takes up too much room.

Same problem. I've donated some good CRTs I had because I didn't have a TV they fit and didn't have room to buy more.
All my duds have either been crunched or given away... Except for one roundy that I saw make picture before the glass cracked between pins, and a VERY weak, but beautiful Sylvania 21FBP in my 29JC20 that's currently run to fail on a brightener...That Sylvania I'd probably consider paying $500 to have rebuilt.

I grew up selling picture tubes and I just knocked the neck off of them when I had to dispose of them. I hate seeing a roundy go, though. I've broken hundreds that way. Knock the neck off in one swift action. Once I was tasked with breaking what seemed like a couple hundred and then tossing them into a dumpster off a loading dock. Of course I had to toss one in unbroken to see what would happened. It sounded like a bomb went off and people ran out from neighboring offices to see what happened. Breaking the neck is safe and easy. I'd do it out at the garbage can with whatever was laying around, a stick, a hammer, a shovel.
