Info for this year's TV Event with the California Historical Radio Society:

Date: May 31, 2025
Start time: 10:00 AM
Location: CHRS Radio Central, 2152 Central Avenue, Alameda, CA 94105 (newly renovated with a beautiful space for our event)

As usual, this will be a morning and afternoon event, including lunch. We're putting together a schedule of presentations, but could still use a few more, so if you have a topic you'd like to present, let me know. We're interested in all kinds of presentations related to antique TV -- technical topics, the history of early TV, stories about broadcasting or life in the studio, info about companies and manufacturers, stories about collecting TVs, insight into early TV programming, or whatever you come up with. Technical demonstrations relating to TV have been highlights of the event over the years, so if you have a demo to show and discuss, bring it on! We will also likely have a few antique sets on display (in addition to the permanent CHRS TV collection), so you are welcome to bring a special set along that you'd like to display (either static or working).

A couple of terrific presentations already on the schedule:

1. Restoration and demo of TK-31 camera, including building a complete camera control unit
2. The introduction of UHF broadcasting

This event is free of charge (except a small donation for lunch) and open to anyone interested (you don't have to be a CHRS member). In recent years, we've had a few visitors who have traveled some distance from Southern California and Nevada to join us. We welcome visitors from anywhere!

I'll update this post as we flesh out the schedule in the coming weeks.

If you'd like to attend, be sure to let me know, so we can plan for lunch, room for enough chairs, etc.

See you in Alameda (just across the Bay from San Francisco)!

Just one week away now! Everything is on track and the above agenda for the day is unchanged. In addition to the usual CHRS display of antique TVs (a working 1920s scanning disk TV, a working Dumont Royal Sovereign, and plenty of other fun sets), there will be a 1950s 3-inch NRI kit TV and a rare Viewtone set. The TK-31 camera will also be there for your admiration.

If you'd like to come, just let me know if you haven't already done so -- that way we'll be sure to have enough chairs and food.
