If the ghosting is caused within the TV itself it is usually variable by the fine tuner. If so, look for a defective mixer tube or 3rd video IF. If not tuneable, make sure that someone did not bypass the delay line. If all else is OK, it must be coming from the antenna system.

Does it ghost on a B&W show? Does the color control affect it?

Does it ghost with a cross hatch generator?

Don

I dont remember mine ever doing that. Is the ghost actually green like it looks in the pictures?

<<Does it ghost on a B&W show?>>

Since everything now is broadcast 'in color' (even if it's black and white source), a good way to diagnose this part would be to adjust the color killer up enough so it completely kills the color, then see if any change in the ghosting. But just turning the color control to zero would probably be equivalent...Frenchy

Try removing the last video IF tube (or grounding its grid), and feeding a video signal from your crosshatch generator into the grid of the 1st video amp. IF no ghost, the problem is FI or tuner. Try using a tuner subber and feeding the set from the IF output of the subber, bypassing the tuner. This will isolate the ghost to the tuner, IF, or baseband sections of the TV.

Good luck.

shielding

make sure all of the grounds are good, resolder all ground lugs where the circuit boards ties to the chassis and make sure all shields have been replaced.

It's most noticeable on brightly colored objects like cartoons and faces, or sharp objects like text. It's been like this since I got it. Is this normal, or does my set have a problem?

Your delay line may be bad. Julian
