The old TV shop... post-Rita
Hey guys...
Haven't been online much lately since been trying to clean up after Rita. Have been up here at camp since the storm. Still no lights here at the cabin, but can't be too much longer. There are lights on the main highway about 1/4 mile from me. Went to my house in Nederland for a little bit today. Power was back on. Only suffered some trim around the edges of the house and a gutter. No biggie. Bruce (the guy that owns the old TV shop in Port Arthur) and his wife went home today. I drove over there a little later to see what happened. His old TV shop is in bad shape. In fact, along with many other buildings in that area, it's been condemned by the city. Everything got wet in his work area and is pretty much destroyed. I went walking in the attic (where I've found some of my goodies) and it was a completely different experience. Being that the roof was blown off, there was no longer a need for a flashlight. I didn't see anything that I hadn't seen before, but, it was certainly a different experience walking around up there. As far as I know, there is only one set in the shop that I still want, but it's downstairs in a spot that's impossible to get to right now. Hopefully, I will get a chance to get it during the week cause I go back to work on the ship next weekend and it's likely the shop will be torn down by the time I get back in December. While we were there, he gave me a few NOS flybacks that he was able to reach. They're tube chassis flys, and two of them are for color sets. One is for an Admiral, but don't recall the number right now. There are a couple of others with numbers I don't recognize. Was wondering if someone could look up these numbers... FLY490 (Thordardson) D227 (Triad) I think the D227 number said it was a Philco replacement. The flyback and mounting bracket look a lot like the one in my 17" Predicta, but would like to be sure. The FLY490 is definitely a color tube chassis fly... possibly a roundie... but for what? |
The FLY-490 crosses to Zenith S-87813. Beyond that I can't help.

Thanks, Bryan. I thought it might be a Zenith replacement but wasn't sure.
