Anybody ever seen a Motorola Record
Hello All, I was going through some of my old vinyl records and came across a 33 RPM, 10 inch record with a gold label and the Motorola M logo at the top. Under that it says MOTOROLA presents PROGRESS IN SOUND. Narrated by Norman Ross, featuring Jonathan Winters. Demonstrating the Ultimate Refinement in the Reproduction of Recorded Music for 3-Channel Stereophonic High Fidelity.
Side one is like a stereo demo record with Jonathon Winters voicing several different characters and stereo effects like a ping pong game. The other side has five cuts of different styles of music. Anybody have any idea when this was made? Was it included when you bought a Motorla TV/stereo console? Happy New Year! Richard. PS. it does have some scratches, but plays. Any Motorola collectors want it? |
I'd be interested. Never got involved with the stereo caskets at Moto. Don't know if this went out the door with some models, but it must date back to when then were touting the peak amplifier power horse race, something like 3000 watts. I don't recall making any critical listening tests myself, but I do remember someone there telling me that the Tijuana Brass made a good test record.

Motorola Demo Record
I have this record, too. It came with the Motorola tube stereo console my father bought new in 1960-61. It was the first stereo recording I heard. Must have listened to it a hundred times, seated 2 feet in first of the console. Loved it! When I restored this console and listened to for the first time in 30 years, it was also the first record I played on it, again. Had to rescue it from the garbage, as my mother had decided to pitch it the very same day that I had gone to visit the old homestead! It's a good thing I asked about it.
