Free old TVs and CRTs in Charlotte, NC

I have been contacted by a guy in Charlotte, NC who has a basement full of old TVs that he would like to give away.

His grandfather ran an RCA dealership in Charlotte for 50 years. These 20-odd TVs are what remains. Most are RCA, but not all. He also has about a dozen brand new picture tubes.

Whoever takes them must pick them up -- and take everything.

He does not have a list of model numbers. He says that his grandfather used to have hundreds of these. Most are consoles.

I would go and take a look at them, but Charlotte is a 3,000 mile drive from here.

If you are interested, send me an email and I'll give you the guy's contact information.

The televisions are mostly 50's black and white sets. Most of the televisions on the floor suffered water damage. Those sets mostly will be parted. There were some table top sets that were up high and survived pretty nice. Those will get saved. Three of the new picture tubes are 21AMP4. TV makes were: Capehart, RCA, Dumont, Zenith, Silvertone, Crosley, GE and Bendix. There are a few parts that are scattered in the basement. I grabbed a bunch of RCA knobs. I will get the rest when I go back Saturday. They decided to keep the RCA t-100 and the RCA 8 T 244. I got a 12 inch variant of the T-100. I will have to check on the model number. It is getting late and I have to get to work. Will post some pictures later.

The 12" T-100 variant is a RCA T-121.

...had been holding my 'early-color' breath for a Howard Carter kind of find, but heartwarming nevertheless :thmbsp:
