Look at the size of this magnifier

A visitor to my website shared these photos of his RCA 630TS with screen magnifier.

Perhaps it improves the viewing experience, but I think that huge magnifier makes a classy TV look like something from Captain Nemo's submarine (i.e., ugly).

People did weird stuff to there tvs in the 50's. It is sorta funny in a way.

The bigger the screen size, the more costly the TV...especially in the early days, up to 1952 or so...17, 19" sets had outlandish prices of like $279.95 on 'em...People bought small sets & "cheated" w/these things. That, & large screens simply weren't available til the mid-'50s. If you discount the DuMont Royal Sovereign, the largest screens were the 27" sets-I remember seeing an ad from '54 w/them. And they were nearly $400 1954 dollars...

I'd hate (Like) to see what happens if that thing is in direct sunlight.

Magnifiers are interesting in their own way but no way would I hang that big ugly one on a nice 630!

Please tell me it's not attached with screws?!
