Just about finished redoing the main chassis this weekend, I did every wax cap I could get my hands on including one in the IF strip (PITA because of the soldered-on metal cover in back of the board). The scope tells me I have the vertical and horizontal oscillators running, so that's good. The main big positive I got out of this was that under 50 odd years of dust and cigarette smoke, there was a good looking flyback! The crud was so thick, it literally flaked off as I scraped at it with a flat bladed screwdriver.
Next I need to order and replace the remaining caps in the power supply, along with the odd 2mfd cap on the video board, then I should be good for a full scale test to see what it does. Fingers crossed.
