I wasn't quite sure if I should post this here...or on the thread I placed earlier last week?? I figured this would be the best place for it.

The above mentioned CTC-10 Montecello is not a CTC -10 or a Montecello, but rather it's a CTC-11 and I don't know what model name it was given? But as was mentioned, it was in Philly. I had checked in with the experts here at VK last week about this set, and I picked it up yesterday and brought it home to NJ.

The set is in excellent condition both inside and out. It was owned by a local Philly Doctor by the name of Heller. There's a repair tag inside dated 1965. The CRT appears to be original, and is in excellent condition. After a delayed wake up, it almost pinned the needles on my tester.

The only flaw I have been able to find so far is a crack in the plastic tuning knob. I'm hoping to find a replacement for it. I decided to go for broke and brought the set up on my Variac. After several minutes of slowly increasing the voltage, I started to hear some activity in the high voltage section and then we had raster on the screen. I ran it for several minutes and saw and heard no problems, everything seemed stable and correct.

Although I didn't run a signal into it, the brightness level seemed normal, and all functions seemed to be fine. The only real issue will be dealing with the cataract on the face of the crt. I think I'm going to try Bryan Gadow's method of dunking it in a tank of water for several days/weeks to loosen the mask.

All in all...I'd say it wasn't a bad deal for $75.00.

Bob.
