On this 21" model only the front section is plastic, the rest is metal, Aluminum cabinet with textured Vinyl/fabric covering, Steel back.
The 17" version had a plastic cabinet with a metal back and no handles on the side.
This particular model and color is the same set I had as a kid, bought by my Dad when he and my Mom were first married.
