The excellent pictures came courtesy of the Marconi Mark IV camera, which used 4.5" I-O's. Besides the super quality, one major factor that led CBS to acquire these cameras starting in '62 (this, before Philips' development of the three-tube Plumbicon Norelco PC-60 color cameras in 1965) was that it was made by a company other than RCA.

These Mk IV's were also used on The Ed Sullivan Show the night The Beatles knocked 'em dead on the night of Feb. 9, 1964.
