Marty,

The Zenith had a bad vertical output transformer. I think one of the secondaries had a shorted winding. Initially, with the Telematic convergence load used, the picture (on the rig) was good. When I put the chassis back in the cabinet, with the factory convergence board, the picture rolled uncontrollably. Two resistors tied to the primary got hot. I found a replacement not too far away. That fixed the vertical issue. I also found both horizontal phase diodes open. I replaced them with 1N918's (available from Rat shack). It took three tries to get the convergence acceptable. I finally got convergence useable, so I call this done.

Philco: One of the 100mf/350V lytics was dead shorted. That took out a 470 ohm resistor. The rest of the lytics reformed to specs. I got it looking passable on the rig. I did have a major issue with the 21FB. One of the filament wires broke off. I had enough of a nub to replace the wire going to it. That fixed that. Once I did the usual setup, Archie was blowing a raspberry, then the picture bloomed. The 3AW2 was toast. The needle barely moved on my Eico. I did a little research and found that a 3BT2 will sub, as long as ONLY pins 1 and 12 are used. That fixed the blooming. The pic shows the end result. I am a little disappointed in the quality of the sound. But, the eye tube looks cool. The blue dial display also looks great. As soon as I can rearrange my display, we will see a wall of roundies. Coming soon...
