I have a 467 here, and a 466 at work. Both work very similarly, so I think you are basically right. Set the filament at 6.3V, G2 at minimum, and G1 for 50 volts (I checked my 467 book-it does not have the asterisk) in "setup" mode, switch to "cutoff" mode and turn the G2 up so the meter moves up one "tick" on the scale (if it does not move and the tester has a G2 switch, switch it to "high"), then switch to "test" mode and see where the pointer goes. (Switch the R/G/B switch to each position to see all three guns.) I hope that is enough to get you going.
