Another suggestion is to use the newer type snap-in terminals, as found on the later model sets. You might have to enlarge the holes to get them to fit.

Try Gateway Electronics in St. Louis. When I was last there about two years ago, they had a big bin of them for 30 cents each.
I bought about a dozen and still have most of them. I would be glad to send one except it is storage after a move and I don't currently have access to them myself!
